Feature Request - Downloadable BackupStarted by happybando |
I love Gyminee, but my one concern is that if something happened to the site I'd lose all my data. Gyminee is how i keep track of what I'm doing/eating over time, so I'd love to have the ability to save what I've put on the site as a spreadsheet or in some other downloadable form. Maybe this is something that could be accomplished with the API mentioned in the previous topic.

I agree. I think this is an obvious evolution of the site. To export your dat into a spreadsheet for further analysis or maybe another program. I've seen other sites do it and some even print summary reports intended to be kept in a 3-ring binder. Posted by brian_erdelyi on May. 09, 2008 at 03:14AM |
strongly agreesocial sites like this need to acknowledge that it is the users data and therefore provide mechanisms to export the information Posted by cchez on May. 09, 2008 at 10:08PM |

I think some sites use the inability to export data as a way to hook customers. I don't agree with that tactic. I think Gyminee will be one that will eventually provide the ability to export data as it matures. Posted by brian_erdelyi on May. 11, 2008 at 02:05AM |

Not Just A Good Idea...This would be a major feather in Gyminee's cap, from my standpoint. As it is, I'm in a medically-supervised weight loss program, and every couple of weeks after a weigh in, the nutritionist and I go over the meal plans and make adjustments. That means that I have to make screengrabs or copy and paste each days' page - unless I just missed something. The next logical step would be to get the reporting all on one page, only later to be exportable by XLS or CSV. Although other sites offer the functionality, I appreciate the interface, service and community too much to ditch it right now - but I'm putting the vote in for downloadable data, or at least robust reporting. Thanks, guys! Posted by scomo518 on May. 21, 2008 at 03:20AM |

AgreedI'm one of the Gyminee developers and just wanted to say that you guys are right on. We are certainly not against some type of API or data export in the future, but our time still must be spent refining the current feature set. Along the lines of advanced reporting, that is what we see the current Fitness Report evolving into. The recent upgrade made it a much better tool, but we can still see room for improvement and welcome any suggestions. I also wanted to note that Gyminee does regularly back up all user data, so even if the server completely crashes we should be back up and running with minimal downtime. I agree! As a new Gyminee user, this is probably the one main feature I would like to see--some way to export my Gyminee workout records into Excel spreadsheet format. Good stuff! Posted by JuryDuty on May. 29, 2008 at 04:48AM |
