On Vacation

I was on vacation August 3-10. Decided not to enter nutrition (I deviated from my normal nutrition plan) but will backfill with my workouts that I did manage to perform. I was expecting to see "F"s on my report card but instead see "N/A" for not available.

Lean Body Mass

I added lean body mass as a custom bodytracker item. I show a big jump in late January because this was two weeks after I started a weight training routine called StrongLifts 5x5. I had been on a strength training hiatus for 3 months. Before that, I was not forcing myself to progressively add weight and tended to do higher reps of lower weights.

Body Fat Measurement with Tanita Scale

I gave up on the Tanita scale for body fat measurement. For a while I was able to get it to agree rather well with calipers especially when I measured late in day after warming up. Now the numbers are off and I understand that those units are even more imprecise as body fat approached 10% or less (even using its athlete mode). I'll stick with the calipers. Doesn't take that much longer to measure. I will look forward to the day when the scale does show a single digit bodyfat though.

Protein Intake

Don't know why I didn't get my protein target yesterday. I looked at the trend and see a couple of other days where it was low. I will watch that more because I believe I need the protein if I am trying to simultaneously lose fat and gain muscle.

Body Measurements

Finally took some more recent body measurements after 3 months of StrongLifts. Some nice gains on chest. Didn't have thigh measurements before, only hips. I had only measured hips because I found a website that said where and how to measure body. Funny that the site didn't consider thighs. Not much gain elsewhere because I suspect that it was offset by fat loss. I actually saw a gain in my waist which is weird since I have gotten rid of a couple of belts that were too big. Maybe I mis-measured. I also have a much smaller roll around the middle. I have been doing weighted abs and that seem to have added some girth so that may be part of all this.
