1 Month of Running!

I've been doing the RunnersWorld running plan for a month now (half way through the plan) and I'm quite chuffed with myself as I don't think i've ever stuck to a fitness plan as long as this before! So now i'm going to carry on with the rest of the plan, but throw in some body-weight strength training on alternate days as-well.

Change Of Course

I've decided to change my workout plan. Instead of going to the gym and using the machines down there, I'm going to do body-weight exercises for the next month, then buy some free weights, and do free weight exercises to pack on some muscle. The main reasons for this is that I've heard from a lot of people that the weight machines aren't very good for your joints, and free weights allow for a better range of motion, and use more supporting muscles, which means a better physique in the longer run. It's also free as-well (until I have to buy some weights) so I can save the £30 per month I spend on the gym. It'll probably find it easier to workout as I only have to travel upstairs to get to my 'gym', don't have to wait for machines to be available and use sweaty old equipment. So i'll start my 'At Home' workout tomorrow, and we'll see how it goes.

Missed Saturday's Workout Too!

It's a slippery slope! In addition to missing Friday's gym session, I also didn't do Saturday's running session. And I had a whole pizza from Karvanis today. So not a good last couple of days. Back to the gym on Monday night though.

Missed Friday's Workout

OK, so I didn't manage to get down to the gym on Friday, but there is a good reason for it, as I was stood outside the O2 store on Commercial Street in Leeds for 2 hours, in the pouring rain, queueing for a iPhone 3G! I did eventually get one, even if it wasn't the one I originally wanted (was going for the 16GB, but they sold out around 9AM), but i'm really happy and the 3G should make uploading my Gyminee workouts a little quicker! Anyway, it's the first workout i've missed since I've started the 21 day habit course, but i'll be going running again today so it shouldn't make much of an impact.

My First A!

Well i've being down to gym or running for the past 5 days this week, so I'm on a 'A' grade for my workouts now! My nutrition is still N/A as i've haven't been logging my diet, but like I mentioned in my last post, I'm holding off on the nutrition part until i've worked out for 21 days (apparently that's how long it take to make something into a habit) without missing a workout.

One Step At A Time...

I've found that it's more difficult than I thought to go from doing no exercise and eating junk food 24/7 to exercising 6 times a week and eating perfectly. It's so difficult that I pretty much gave up after a few days because it was so much work. So i'm restarting my plan, but this time, i'm only going to do my workouts for the first month, just to get into the habit of going to the gym/running. After the first month, i'll be in the habit of exercising, so i'll start eating healthy then. To be honest, i'll probably start eating healthier during the first month anyway, as i'll be wanting to get more out of my gym sessions by eating better. I certainly won't be having Fish & Chips then going for a run like I just have though!
