Day 10

Well, yesterday I went in for my first session with Pete, one of the trainers at my gym. He did all of my measurements and this is what he said - "Well, the good news is that you're right on the border of Moderate body fat. The bad news is that, at 29.8%, you're currently in the Fat category. But not the Obese category, so we can work with it."------So...he set me up with a terrible, painful, sickening program on the elliptical, and my next appointment with him is Tuesday. He did give me positive reinforcements though - he basically told me that if I just get my ass into the gym 5 days a week, in two months I can reach my goal. Let the games begin.

Day 7

Yesterday was a giant family emergency, and I spent the afternoon in the hospital. And I doubled my fat goal. Anyway, I am due to weigh in tomorrow, so I am planning on getting a good, hard workout in today after work. I'm shooting for a full hour of cardio followed by upper body workout. McDonald's was the bane of my existence yesterday.

Day 5

Well, it's been a very busy past two days. I worked a 12 hour shift on Friday, which didn't allow for any gym time, but on the up side, I was on my feet running around from 10 am to 10 pm. Yesterday was hectic - I had to work at 10am again and a huge bummer is that my gym closes at 4 on Saturdays, so by the time I got out of work, it was too late (not that I felt like doing anything at all when I got home.)***Here's some great news: we bought a new MacBook last night, and I couldn't be happier because now everything is super fast to do :) Back to the gym today!

Day 2

1 full hour on the elliptical again - I still find it strange that I'm sticking it out instead of climbing off. I'm not getting on the scale again until next Wednesday. As for the Short Shorts Workout: Ouch.

Day 1

I've come to a point in my life where a number of outside influences have helped me realize that I need to get into shape. Sign #1: The largest realization came when I ran full force after my very tricksy 4 year old niece, and mid-sprint, I felt my body getting jostled as though someone was yanking on my hips and legs. Nobody was. The fat that has accumulated there over the last eight months was just jiggling at such a high rate of speed that it was actually painful. Sign #2 On my honeymoon, Ryan wanted so very badly to bike around Acadia National Park. We rented the bikes. We peddled around to get our bearings, and approximately 17 minutes into our trip, my chest hurt so badly and I was so out of breath that we had to stop. I threw up. We returned the bikes. We drove the scenic route instead. His whole dream of biking the park was ruined because I have the stamina of a 48 year old smoker. Sign #3: In approximately 9 weeks, I am going to North Carolina for a week to lay on the beach, and I would like to wear a bathing suit rather than cargo shorts and a t-shirt. Sign #4: My 31 year old sister and mother of 2 children is in perfectly acceptable bikini shape, and I, a 23 year old non-mother, cannot zip up her size 9 jeans anymore. The gym is less than a half mile from my house. It's open early and late, it's cool and air conditioned, and it's affordable. So this is it.
