Agh.. I haven't worked out for two weeks and am not very motivated to start up again. Well, I did work out a couple of times this past two weeks but that's really nothing. I hate when I have this lazy, unmotivated feeling. I guess I just have to suck it up for now until I get back into my routine. Semper Fi! ^^

7 Minute Mile

So I am now able to run a 7 minute mile which is crazy in itself b/c I hate running! ^^ I must admit though after I made that accomplishment I am beginning to like it a lot more. Something happened to me yesterday that hasn't happened to me before; I experienced what people call a "cold sweat". I was sweating like a mofo and felt cold. It lasted only 10-15 minutes but it was a trip! I Googled it and they say shortness of breath causes it which is weird b/c I was breathing how I normally do when I run. It also states that it could also be a result from bad joints but I KNOW that's not the case - I'm having no problems there. I'm gonna keep an eye on it though. I think I'm going to start wearing my heart monitor when I run too [thumbs up and wink]. ^_^ I'm going to continue focusing on running until I can complete a 5 minute mile. Wish me luck! </end code>

Status - Week 3 of New Routine

So I switched up my routine this month and focused more on abs and cardio. Well, it's week 3 and so far I've gone from 205 down to 197! No change in my eating habits, although I did stop taking Creatine.. hmm.. that may have something to do with it now that I think about it... ^^ anyway - I feel like there really hasn't been any signifcent progress made but maybe if I look back over the next few weeks I'll see some. </end code>

Minor Acheivement...

I'm able to run an 8 minute mile now. I haven't' done that in about 3 years! ^.^ [pats self on the back] .... I think I'm going to start focusing on my cardio more this month. I ran for 40 minutes today and did not feel winded at all. I felt like I could have easily gone another 40. Music definitely helps.

I've been lagging on posting my workout log but I've really been doing it! ^_^ I actually take my own log with me when I workout to record the weight I lifted, reps and any additional workouts I did that are outside of my regular routine for that day. Re-keying this in just really sucks. On another note... I'm noticing I'm able to lift a lot more.

Hey! Congrats on reaching your goal, good work. I had a conference all weekend so I didn't get to exercise at all this weekend, but it was a fitness/personal trainer conference so I got to work out my mental muscle.... I will be taking a little break from my usual weight routine (I am going to miss it!) because my 12 weeks are done and then mixing it up for the next 12 weeks. I should have some new progress pics soon, if I ever get the time. How about your workouts, how is the HITT going?

Have you ever been at the gym working out and there is someone talking on their phone HELLA LOUD to the point where it breaks your concentration? I can not stand it. This annoyance came to me while I was relaxing in the sauna after my workout today. I'm sitting there with my eyes closed by myself - everything is so peaceful and then the door opens. BAM! OH GIRL, DON'T LET HIM TALK TO YOU LIKE THAT, YOU KNOW HOW IAN IS!! YOU BETTER TELL HIM THAT YOUR NOT GOING TO PUT UP WITH THAT ANYMORE!!!... blah blah blah. I mean it was to the point where I had to just look and stare like WTF?!? I mean I have to think is she doing this to show off or is she just THIS LOUD and ANNOYING?? She just continued and I chuckled quite a bit, holding it back in as she continued. Then I got up and left with a head shake and smirk. Some interesting people out there ... that's for sure.

Adding an old favorite.

I was reading this months M&F on Sunday and ran across an article that I thought was just amazing. The article states that there are many more benefits that Creatine offers more than just building muscle mass. It states that it can boost brain functionality, prevent Huntington's disease, McArtdles's disease, muscular dystrophy, increases cardiovascular activity and can even protect you from the effects of the sun. There is also research that backs this up (Skidmore College, Virginia Commonwealth University). Needless to say, that was a definite eye opener for me. So as of Monday I am back taking Creatine as part of my supplements; 1 serving pre-workout and 1 serving post workout.

Lighter Weight

I tried lighter weights this morning and I think it will make a difference. I made sure to move slower through each rep. As you mentioned, I noticed muscles being hit that I haven't noticed in a while especially in my lat pulldowns and front lateral raises. I didn't realize how sloppy my form had become by lifting heavier weight.

That Nike+ shit is definently interesting but I will NOT be gimmicked into buyin unnecessary shit just because Nike says I must to use thier software...Inside every iPod touch and iPhone is an accelerometer. Just like the old Nike+ thing that went into runners shoes, this accelerometer is capable (with the right software) of determining your instantaneous velocity and positional description thru pretty basic calculus. Therefore, they better NOT tell me I need to buy more hardware when theres already an accelerometer in my phone....Im sorry...Im just pissed about some of this shit now since a friend of mine sent me a link to this: http://www.storyofstuff.com/index.html . What urks me while working out.

I'm at the gym today doing my workouts and I tend to line up what machine/free weights to work on next. Well, there is this person sitting there on the machine... just sitting there starring off into no where for like 15 minutes. That is a big pet peeve for me. It's one of the most annoying things for me when at the gym. The next runner up is people who sit and just talk to other people like the whole time while using a machine/weights I need. Dude, if you're going to workout then workout! Okay, enough ranting.. >.<

I will definitely check out that work out. P90x is a full 90 day work out. so after I finish my 90 days, ill hit up the RCH for some great variety. This pain is actually a fun pain for me right now. My frame of mind is much different and I like the ache. The nutrition tracking on this site is amazing, I never really knew HOW MUCH FAT i was eating till I started tracking it. Damn its scary. Ive been fine tuning it for the last couple of days, more protien shakes and plain tuna and less bacon and eggs! Thanks for the comments. Im diggin the community so far!

Biking it...

Starting Monday I'm going to be getting my cardio on as I'll be biking it to and from work which totals 16 miles round trip. This means that it's going to push my workouts after I get off of work which sucks, but oh well. I've done before w/o a problem but the fires around NorCal forced me to stop due to the air quality. Now thankfully it is finally back to "normal" (which is still not perfect). As long as the temperature stays under 100 I should be good!

That's still crucial and its not that bad (like yesterday I went to the Y and did it...Just 10 min of alternating b/w all out sprints and walking/jogging). Also, I will update the Maximum Power workout soon. I'll add some more exercises I'm gonna pull off Men's Health and also link to some good Youtube vids I have been watching to get down the perfect form for my power cleans/power snatches. Yea, I dunno dude. Im thinkin the other day was just a one time thing. I mean, yesterday at the gym, it didn't hurt at all. And I was still clean and jerking what I usually do. I think that one night it acted up, I may have slept on it (is it even possible to sleep on ones shoulder, lol)....Hopefully that was an exception. I don't want any part of my body lagging behind the other.

Good decision brah. I did that a couple weeks back with my clean and jerks and am enjoying it now. It's impossible to say too much good shit about proper form. Everything just feels so much easier when your form is on point. In a couple weeks, you won't regret your decision.

Dropping Weight

Okay, so I decided yesterday that I'm going to focus more on my form rather than pushing more weight. It's not that my form is bad - I'm not one of those guys at the gym you see curling 100lb dumbbells and putting contorting my body in all crazy ways to get it up. I truly do focus on my form b/c doing so will 1. get you the most out of building the muscle groups the workout is intended for and 2 prevent injury. However, lately I feel like I have been pushing the thru the weight and not doing this and, while using the correct form, I am not isolating the muscle by slowly pushing/pulling the weight. So that's my goal for the next few weeks; drop the weight I've been lifting by 20% and push slow reps that isolate the targeted muscle groups and by doing so I will simultaneously be working on my form.

lol, wait dude why would I call you a cheap ass again? Because you don't have a case right now? If so, naw dude, up till like 2 months ago, I didn't have a case for my first iPhone. I figured a phone is a phone and it needs to be able to handle the daily abuse I put on it w/o me protecting it. Stayed thinking like that until I learned that Apple (like shiesty mofo's) will rescind your 1 year warranty if you bring your iPhone to them for whatever repair is needed and it has dings in the metal (supposedly indicating it has been dropped). Then, after dropping my phone numerous times before (this thing is definitely tougher than it looks), I finally cracked its screen droppin it hard against concrete on the way to see Iron Man. So after I eBayed that one off and got a new one, it will now stay in a case forever. Worth it.

Thanks for the tip about the ice. I was thinking I should try that, but it gave me something to whine about for a couple of days. I did my arms and a couple of light shoulder exercises today and didn't even feel any discomfort so the pull couldn't have been too bad. Talk to you later! :)

Well, actually, I've got the RHC book (I use the mags for the workouts because they're slightly updated, but...) it shows most of month 3 is doing a whole lotta 20 rep sets. Yes, that's right. 20 reps of the things that push us right now at 12 reps. :P

sick, right? i was shocked. i must add that i was away this weekend with my husband at an upscale resort in Connecticut and the food was so fresh and over the top, i ate everything, my dessert, my husbands dessert, and they had the most extensive wine list.. i drank a lot. so i am sure that 4.5lbs was chocolate souflee and red wine bloat!

Heh, well I'm in month 2 and--let me tell you--it's MUCH more intense! I've been able to increase a couple of my lifting weights, but not much as we're doing some very short reps, then some very loooong reps. It's been really good for my definition right now, but man is it killer. :P

Real talk dude, the only thing I hate about this case is I'm positive I can type faster without it. Typing the letters at the far left and right is sorta hindered with the case on. I mean, I can still type, I just don't feel like Im typing blackberry fast anymore since i put the case on. But with the protection it offers, I think the pros outweigh the cons...

Well, I focus more on design but of course I do HTML and CSS, and some PHP. Very little Javascript (because it's the devil). I'd like to get into coding more, but don't really have the time :( I make it a point to try something new on every project, so I try to learn that way since I don't have time to practice on my own.

Hey, thanks bambolina! Turns out I really didn't accomplish much but I appreciate your support! I basically changed my workout program and started a new meal plan (not diet - bad 4 letter word ^_^). The workout program: I subscribe to M&F and they came out with an article last month called the ROCK-HARD Fitness Challenge and I have been following it RELIGIOUSLY you actually don't really need to have the magazine b/c one of the users here actually posted it up here. The group is called "Rock Hard Challenge Month 1 (Muscle and Fitness 2008)". I'm on month two currently (Rock Hard Challenge Month 2 (Muscle and Fitness 2008)) both of which are listed in my Fitness groups within my profile so you can easily join it by just clicking on the workout programs I have joined. This has really helped me primarity b/c I do not like doing my legs AT ALL. However, in going through this program I end up working on my legs/lower body 2x a week (and it is actually 1 day after another!) which forced me to do them. Surpisingly, I was able to push much more weight than I would have initially thought and now I have made this part of my regimen so it's not such a pain in the @$$ anymore. Downside to this was that the 1st week I did this I couldn't walk for like 4 days (or more acurately, I walked like an 90 year old). Meal Plan: I eat six meals a day and they consist of HIGH, MEDIUM and LOW Calorie days. I follow it in that order each day as to not stay on the same Meal Plan. What this does is confuse your your body so it does not get used to the food/calories you eat each day and as a result, those excess calories are burned while you workout or are resting. This list is pretty lengthy and it needs to be adhered to in order for it to really work. I can send you the list if you are interested.

Okay, so I put up some pictures of my progress today. I tried to get better angles but it doesn't look like I really did a good job. Then it dawned on me that I should've used the mofo mirror! Target NOT Achieved

OMG - It looks like I didn't make that goal. I weight myself at the gym yesterday and it said 185lbs BUT when I got home and weighed myself to confirm it said I was 203lbs. Stupid gym scales... totally inaccurate. lmao All good tho - I don't really trip off of that stuff anyways since I workout regularly and aggressively (e.g. if I'm not sweating, I'm not working out hard enough). ^_^ Still - pretty funny. Definitely need to tell those people at the gym to fix their POS scale.
