It is time to get back into this.....

I need to get back into recording everything I eat and getting my butt off of the couch and into the gym or at least running around the street.

I am wearing a heart rate strap & watch while I workout now (thanks woot.com). I noticed that once I got up and walked to the water fountain after doing the leg press I began to feel a bit light headed. My watch also started beeping. I glanced at the watch and it said my heart rate was at 230, so I sat down and my heart rate dropped to 185 very quickly and I began to feel alright. This leads me to believe that my body has issues with the leg press.

Cleared for the Gym....

Yesterday I was given clearance to return to the Gym and return to my workout routine. Tomorrow evening I will be back at the Wellness Center to attack the fat!

Workout Gone Awry

Saturday did not go as planned. I woke up Saturday and went to the gym as I usually do on a Saturday morning. I was on the Elliptical for 30 minutes and then the Treadmill for 15 minutes. The morning was going well. I then went to the Leg Press and did my typical three sets and then went over to the Incline Bench. I did my first set on the incline bench and at about rep 7 of the second set I began to feel dizzy. So I stopped. I could tell that I was going to pass out so I laid back on the incline bench and put my hands up on the part you push up so I could steady myself so I wouldn’t fall over when I passed out. Then all of a sudden there were people around me asking me if I was ok. I could hear a number of people. I tried to say I was ok, but I couldn’t say anything. I tried to move and I couldn’t move. Someone kept asking me if I was ok and I was finally able to move my hands after what seemed like maybe a minute. They asked me to squeeze their hand if I could hear them so I squeezed their hand. I then opened my eyes. I heard someone say, “He is opening his eyes”. But everything was black. I couldn’t see anything. So I closed my eyes. I just sat their on the incline bench. Someone or more than one person stayed there with me asking me questions until I was able to actually say something verbally. I was able to tell them my name and what my wife’s phone number was. They gym had called the paramedics that arrived soon after (my gym is actually in the parking lot of the hospital). By the time the paramedics arrived I was feeling significantly better. I was able to see fine and was almost able to stand on my own to get onto their stretcher. They checked my blood sugar almost immediatley and they told me my blood sugar was 114 which was good. I was glad to hear this since there is a history of diabetes in my family and I am not wanting to become diabetic. They also checked my blood pressure, it was really low, but I don’t remember them telling me a specific number. The paramedics got me into the ambulance and drove through the parking lot to deliver to me to the Emergency Room. I hung out in the Emergency room for about 4 hours before they decided to admit me. They took 4 viles of blood (which my body didn’t seem to want to let out), numerous blood pressure tests, an ECG and some other random tests. None came back showing any problems so they decided to admit me for further observation. Today they did a CT scan which also came back as normal and tommorrow they have another slate of tests for me to do so they can try and figure out why my blood pressure dropped while I was working out. Currently, none of the four Doctors that have seen me have any theories. Just ideas for more tests. I am currently writing this from my hospital room. I actually feel fine and was hoping to head home today but they want to continue observing me. I will probably write more here as I learn about what happened to me.

Knees

I feel like I may be destroying my knees. I have been doing at least an hour and a half of cardio each night for the last few weeks and I think it is getting to me. I am going to decrease my cardio to one hour per evening and make sure I take two days off from my cardio routine. If I let me knees go I won't be able to do any cardio.

Gyminee PRO

I just joined Gyminee PRO and already like the enhanced meal planning and auto nutrition goal settings. I am currently having some difficulty changing my nutrition goals from what they automatically set for me, but it is likely a glitch since they just rolled out the carpet for Gyminee PRO. :)

Re-focus on food

I am taking a stronger focus on what I eat for the next few weeks. I have gotten a bit lax in regards to what I am eating and how much, and I am noticing that the weight doesn't want to come off now. I think if I re-focus on eating better I will begin to see the weight come off as I did before. Luckily I am having no difficulty hitting the gym daily, now I just need to take control of my eating habits.

Floating Weight

My weight is currently floating between 190lbs and 193lbs. I will now likely be on the scale multiple times a day to watch changes based on what I eat, drink, and do because I got a clever scale for Christmas that tells me my body water %, weight of fat in my body, body fat % and bone weight %. It was interesting to see that I have 53lbs of fat on me. I also have a body fat % of 27%. The ideal body fat % I should have is around 15%. So this means that I should be able to have a good body fat % if I lose about 30 more lbs, bringing my ideal weight to about 163lbs.

192 Pounds!

Last week I didn't see any change and then this week I dropped almost 4 pounds. It is strange how I can have a week where I lose nothing and then a week where I lose nearly double what I expect. I am learning to not be discouraged when you don't see results. If you keep it up you will see results!

Stagnant Weight

This week I didn't lose a single pound. I am a bit disappointed. I had increased my calorie intake since a few people I know thought it was far too low. But since I didn't lose any weight I am guessing the 1,500 calorie mark is actually the right number for me. So I will work better at keeping my calorie intake down to 1,500 and maintain my workouts. I hope to be below 190 by Christmas!

18lbs Gone!

I have lost 18lbs by simply watching what I eat and working out 30-60 minutes per day. I haven't even done a 'perfect' job with this, but it feels really good to only be 2 lbs away from the 20 mark!

Thanksgiving week weight

This past week has been hard on my diet, and I think I gained one pound, possibly two. So now it is time to jump back into the program and get that new weight gone by the end of the week.

Steady Weight Loss

I am steadily losing about 2 pounds per week with my current diet and exercise routine. I am even able to tell that my clothes are beginning to fit a bit different. In a few weeks I might need to get some new clothes. (I have already gotten rid of my old clothes that I could possibly fit into.)

Insane Workout!

I just spent 1 hour and 10 minutes on the Elliptical trainer today! I kept my pace about the same as when I only did 30 minutes. I hit 812 calories burned in 70 minutes! I think I need to begin increasing the resistance on the machine now. I am just so surprised by how quickly my body is adapting to these workouts. Each day I feel like I can do much more than the day before. This is very encouraging to keep seeing my calories burned going up, and now the amount of time I can spend working out doubling!

Feeling Good

Since I began my new diet and exercise routine I have been feeling extremely good. I have had far more energy, and I am eating far fewer calories than I used to. Today I ate more calories than my 1,500 per day goal, but in a lot of ways I think my body needed it. I am pushing myself hard on my workouts and I am seeing results. I have lost nearly 10 pounds in my first week!
