new personal record

I am happy today as I set a new personal best: Dead lift = 390 lb. I'm working towards a goal of 4 plates on each side (405 lb.) - hoping to get there by end of the year. Even though this is only 5 lbs up from previous personal best, I'm quite happy with it. Even adding 5 lbs at this point is a big thing, hope to add 5 lbs every few weeks or so.

i hate sinus infections. i had one back in the end of august and it never really went away. two weeks ago it got really bad again and i still have another week of the antibiotic that the doctor gave me. i don't want to work out too hard, because that will just keep me sicker for longer... mainly trying to rest, which really doesn't help my diet.

So I've updates my body fat %

Bases on the fitness test yesterday, I've updated my %. This is extremely satisfying. I did leave in an extra 3% for the margin of error and plan to get it tested again next month.

Wow, this is a great week!

So, I went in today - normally leg day - but had an appointment with one of the personal trainers to go through a overall fitness test. Things went very well and I hit the target range I thought I would be in. One thing that surprised me was my body fat %. I've assumed it was still near 20, but, after doing the 3 basic measurements it turns out I'm at 12%. Granted, there is a margin of error so could be between 12-15, but still, I am extremely happy with this!!!! It's been a goal for over a year and I'm there. Now to work on bringing my cardio/aerobic abilities up from average to excellent.

pulled 385lb on a dead lift this morning. Happy with my progress. Couldn't get 405lb yet - which is my current goal, but getting there. I estimate another couple months, as long as I remain consistent & injury free.

chest day

Had a great start to the week. Did full 4 sets for each of the normal exercises I do on Mondays, then had some left in me so did cable crossovers to finish it off. Chest is typically an area that is difficult to bring up for me, but today it's happy and full :)

This is very rare, but I am likely to take this week off my lifting schedule. There are a few reasons for this: 1. I'm moving this weekend. I workout in the morning, but, need to ensure I get everything done and ready for Saturday. 2. A few weeks ago, I think I went a bit heavy on legs day and my knee is recovering from it. Though it's mostly better, I feel giving it extra time to heal will be in my best interest. I look forward to going even heavier. ;) 3. As much as I don't like taking a break, sometimes it is just a good idea. A week off every 4 or 5 months is acceptable. I'll look forward to hitting it hard next week.

Typically, I've not exactly enjoyed legs day in the past. Sets just didn't feel like they'd go as they should. Well, today, that was different. The program I pieced together for legs seems dead-on. I actually enjoyed legs day today. Nice.

So today was 'heavy chest' day. While the lifts seem good, the waiting between each set is boring. I understand the point of it, but 3 minutes between each is an eternity.
