Weight Gain- It's not all bad

I started a kettlebell and combat fitness program about 4 weeks ago. In these last 4 weeks I have been visibly shrinking, but I have gained 12 pounds! And, it's ok. I really like the workouts, I can see muscle forming and I am getting really strong and really firm very fast. I guess I just have to be patient...

I got too busy

I have been too busy to keep track of all this stuff. But, I did join a gym and don't have to exercise in the office anymore; that's a real bonus. I needed to work harder than I was working myself. I am doing Kickboxing and Russian Kettle Bell workouts 5 days per week. I have gained a lot of weight, but I am shrinking in size, so I'm not going to worry about the weight.

I am soooo trying to not get discouraged!

My weight is making me nuts! I don't want to do this the "old fashioned way" aka. starving myself. I know I need more exercise and I know I am not meeting my calorie goals, but I am not going over the limit on calories. I am actually eating pretty good, within 100 calories of the guideline. And, my clothes are fitting better. But this is killing me. I am not eating junk food, all natural and organic stuff only. I am not eating a ton of sugar. I eat plenty of whole foods. It has been nearly a year that I have been trying to slowly move toward a healthier lifestyle, and I have come a long way, but my weight just won't budge. I am so damn healthy it hurts to look at me, my skin glows! My hair is incredible. I have long, natural, fingernails! What the heck is going on here?

It is deceptive how the body changes

It is very deceptive how the body can change in response to dietary and fitness changes. I am not loosing any substantial amount of weight, but I am morphing... that's the only way to describe this process. I've seen it a hundred times and I am always amazed, I don't loose much weight but my whole shape transforms: alignment, solidity, movement and consistency. This is the part where patience is necessary. I have to remind myself that the scale isn't the definitive measure of progress. Because as the morph progresses, the weight slowly follows and that is true progress not just water loss or some fad diet effect. Wow! patience is hard.

A change could do me good

I made a change to my weight goal. It is more a change of attitude. I decided that if I don't set up some unreasonable expectation, even if it is a long term goal, that I will feel more successful. So, I have decided to set my weight goals in 10 lb. increments. Even though the overall goal is to loose a lot more, it will help my attitude to succeed in stages.
